What we have learned this AW/16 is that the essential coverup has had a dramatic makeover - the humble coat has become more daring with texture and embellishment. Many designers showcased their outerwear as statements pieces for the season.
Burberry did not disappoint with a head turning green trench made from snakeskin, as well as a mix of oversized pea coats in the grey tones worn with sequins and mini dresses. Alexander McQueen had us lusting after the signature romantic detailing; we saw a mix of sharp tailoring mixed with feminine lace and butterfly embroidery.
Both British labels were standouts for outerwear this Autumn Winter. Burberry being an innovator in the buying process of fashion week, making some of the keys pieces has been available to view today immediately after the show at the 121 Regent Street store.
