Denise Rabor, founder and creative director of WOW beauty shares her top tips on on how to boost your skincare regimen this season.
1) Tailor your cleanser
The change of season is the perfect time to switch up your skincare routine and the first question you should ask yourself is whether your usual cleanser still effective. Do you need to switch to a cleansing balm or a cleansing oil that won't strip your skin or perhaps may better nourish your skin? It's often a good idea to have 2 or 3 cleansers that your skin ‘likes’ to use according to the climate, seasons or your skins health. Here are two that I have reviewed and you may wish to try.
2) Protect with a serum
The one thing that you may definitely want to try is adding a serum to your daily skin protection, because they can really improve the effectiveness of your moisturiser. Serums contain active ingredients and depending on what they are designed to do can contain up to 5x more active ingredients than your normal moisturiser; there are serums, for intensive moisture, for hyper pigmentation, for anti ageing, some are specially formulated for night use, others for day, they generally come in gel or oil format.
You should apply serum to freshly cleansed skin, wait a couple of minutes before applying your moisturiser. These are my top recommendations:
3) Stay hydrated
It's been said time and time again, and it's true. Keeping yourself hydrated is important and really cannot be emphasised enough. It is the key to keeping your skin moist and supple (not just your face but also your body) Don’t forget that our bodies are made up of 50 to 70% water and being dehydrated affects our skin, tissues & cells. It is recommended that we drink 8 glasses of water a day to stay at our most optimal hydration.
